On February 24th 2020 @ 9am Gary Lewis of the UCSGA came to the Royal Pelican Docks for a voluntary Vessel Inspection for any Boater in the Royal Pelican Community.
As per Gary Lewis “we want everyone to pass. In the event a vessel does not pass there is no citation, as this is a requested inspection by the vessel owner. A registered vessel owner needs to be present at time of inspection”.
When a violation was found, and owner completed repair etc., Gary Lewis returned to view and then issue paperwork/tag that Inspection passed.
A total of 5 boats were inspected by Gary. As an example, a light stick(for stern of boat when running at night) was missing from the boat, once the owner replaced it Gary came back and finished/passed the boat for inspection. Keep in mind this is a safety inspection, the same you will receive on the water. Another example, If your registration is outdated and you are on the water, that is a $200 fine!
Keep in mind with a free inspection, less than half an hour of your time can save you $$$$ in fines.
The Royal Pelican Boating Association is planning on having this Voluntary Vessel Inspection yearly
